Delegation from Azerbaijan at UMR

Delegation from Azerbaijan gathers information on disaster prevention in Bavaria.

On invitation of the Nuremberg company UMR Society for Environmental Management and Risk Services Ltd. a high-level delegation of the Azerbaijani Disaster Prevention Ministry came to Bavaria.

The new Ministry has been created 5 years ago. There is a desire to employ German technologies for preventive risk assessment and deployment planning as well as information technologies for disaster situations. Beside its preventive function, the Ministry also takes over central tasks for the country's development in the emerging oil and gas country.

The presented remote sensing technology DRYSATMAP ® sparked great interest to the Azerbaijani side. Using this innovative technique to analyze satellite data geo risk maps are to be created for Azerbaijan, which serve the country as a preventive tool, as a basis for the planning of large infrastructure projects as well as for agricultural development.

At a reception at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs in Munich hosted by the Senior Undersecretary for Foreign Trade and Location Marketing, Dr. Ulrich Wolf, the opportunities for professional training in the field of disaster protection were discussed.


Another part of the visiting program was held at the main shareholder’s technology center of the UMR at IABG in Ottobrunn. There, information technology systems for communication in the event of a disaster as well as software solutions for managing operational centers were in the foreground. A trip to Dresden led to the Geo data Factory of the IABG. The various possibilities of vectorisation and refinement of geo data demonstrated there made a great impression on the visitors.
